Bradley Coufal is a visual artist, writer, and musician living and
working out of Austin, TX. His work covers a wide variety of mediums and generally focuses on various threads of the discourses involving appropriation, identification, and distortion.

Michael Cockrell, also of Austin, Texas is a musician, songwriter, composer and sound collage artist employing methods ranging from field recording and other various sample manipulation techniques to digital guitar and vocal experimentation. Cockrell’s work is heavily influenced by the relationship between the historical lineage of psychedelia and the struggles, confrontations and realizations of the modern era.
 
The Waiting Room is a room installation by Austin, TX artists Michael Cockrell and Bradley Coufal. The work involves a partially constructed simulation of a waiting room. The piece is made of partly disassembled artifacts and stereo sound arrangements made from a playlist of pitch-shifted easy listening albums and edited conversation between Cockrell and Coufal about the concept of the piece before having made it. These conversations have been edited to remove most of the identifying language leaving a skeletal framework of filler-speech. Cockrell and Coufal wanted to create a space which invites the viewer into the waiting room—a place of simultaneous contemplation, recognition, and anxiety which one may experience in the process of creating a work.

I’ve seen some of these pictures a lot of times already, but I never really knew what it was for. All I knew was that Andrej Pejic was one of the models. It’s for Candy magazine which is “the first fashion magazine ever completely dedicated to celebrating transvestism, transexuality, cross dressing and androgyny, in all its manifestations.”
